Sexology…what?

Hello everyone, I am Richelle and I am a clinical sexologist at Sensual Potential. What is that you may ask?

As a sexologist I provide sexuality education and sex and relationship counselling to individuals and all of those in a relationship (including polyamorous ones).
I have both personal and professional experience in working with people from the queer, kink and poly communities and am passionate about supporting people to be sensual and sexual beings. I also have experience in working with the impact on sexuality from ageing (menopause), disability and cancer.
I am here to inform about various sexual challenges and how the products from pleashervibes and support you to explore your sensual potential.
You can learn more about me and what I do at www.sensualpotential.com.au

Suck it

Adult products have come a long way from dildos made from wood and leather to the recycled beauties available from pleashervibes. The latest advent has been toys that suction like the Jasmin.

I first came across such toys around 2016 and they were a game changer. The subtle sucking of such toys was a change from the first ones that felt like they were removing the clitoris, they were on the right track but the products were harsh and rudimentary, certainly not pleasurable.

The first products that used this technology but in a more pleasurable way were the Womaniser and Satisfyher and they took the world by storm. Finally, women had a product that was satisfying, drawing the blood to the clitoris quickly and allowing orgasms like never before. I friend who worked in an adult store rang me and could not stop raving about them, so I had to give it a try. “I had an orgasm within minutes” she said, and she was not wrong.

Where these products come into their own is for women who find direct clitoral stimulation too much, they may be naturally sensitive, or have menopausal or cancer treatment related genital sensitivity or atrophy, so penetration and vibrators are out of the question. They provide the clitoral stimulation most women need to become aroused to allow orgasms to occur during penetration.

The Jasmin is a new breed, ecologically sensitive, safe and so lovely to touch, while still having the power and several settings to allow you to find what works for you. And now you have the Camphor that not only sucks but enables internal stimulation at the same time, two for the price of one
Check out both products here Camphor Rabbit Vibrator | Pleasher Vibes and Jasmine Clitoral Vibrator | Pleasher Vibes

Lets talk lube

Lube, lube and more lube is the chant I tell my clients.
I don’t need lube, you may say and maybe you do lubricate fine on your own but lube makes everything more sensitive. As you age the linings thin and atrophy may become an issue, then lube is a must have for those with vulvas and it is a bonus for penises as well.

Now not any old lube will do, all lubes have not been created equal and there are so many to choose from: water based, silicone, warming, cooling, flavoured, hypoallergenic, natural, vegan (who knew), it can be confusing.

Firstly, water based or silicone which is best? Water based is good but may dry out to quickly for some. Silicon has been a game changer for lasting longer and not needing to reapply but cannot be used with silicone toys. And we must remember that some people may be naturally sensitive to the ingredients or develop sensitivity due to menopause and cancer treatments.

As a sexologist I recommend a natural lube and if necessary, a vaginal moisturiser or oestrogen cream prescribed by a medial professional.

Welcome to organic lube like Simply Lube Natural Aloe Vera, water based and good for those who are sensitive check it out here Simply Lube Natural Aloe Vera | Pleasher Vibes

PRODUCT REVIEW
I was recently contacted by Paloqueth to do some sex toy reviews, I had not heard of them and was a bit unsure, but agreed anyway. A couple of days ago this lovely box arrived in the mail and the reviewing has begun.

When I first saw this device, I was uncertain but it certainly exceeded my expectations.

It is quite ergonomic, thought the vibrations through the handle were a bit disconcerting, the toy feels nice in your hands with a soft satin feel that is pleasurable. There are silicone protrusions on one side and it is soft and rounded on the other, and to top it off its waterproof.

I love the fact it is rechargeable via a USB port, initially I had a few issues connecting the charger, the port is a small area covered with silicone which I thought had to be removed to access the charging port…oops, you just push into the area and the charger is inserted, how easy. Maybe clearer instructions for the novice. It takes 1.5hrs to charge, so you do have to be prepared but you get a good 2.5hrs out of it.

The head is covered in soft silicone protrusions with some larger ones in the centre, which look like little tongues. I guess this is where the name oral stimulator comes from, maybe needs a better name as it does not feel like a tongue or stimulate orally. Clitoral stimulator might be a better name, but I can think of other areas that it might also stimulate quite nicely.

I was also concerned with how easy it might be to clean with all these little protrusions, but it was actually quite easy with a little liquid soap and hot water, it was just like cleaning a brush.

There are 8 different types of vibration, I am sure there is one to suit everyone. I would have liked there to be different strength vibrations on each one, as some were stronger than others and there was really only one that I particularly liked, but I would have liked to make it stronger.

Due to the shape of the head the vibrations can cover the whole vulva area, which would be great for those who do not like direct clitoral stimulation, or you can angle it so the larger tongue like protrusions are directly on the clitoris. If that does not work for you , then you can also flip it over and use the smoother side or the end of the toy where the stronger vibration occurs.

So, after some initial trepidation, it ended up being a lovely toy that feels nice in the hand, is fairly quiet and can be used in a variety of ways to stimulate the whole genital area, or directly on the clitoris and labia or even the anus. It’s a 4/5 for me.
